# `Part.restPose`

> Contract 2.0.0 · package sha256 `a857eca95b35921109faf997094bb4192f12527d9d0fcd4be7e97f06425bad6e` · generated from `configurator-runtime.d.ts` by `services/onsite-scripter/scripts/build-contract-docs.mjs`; edit the source, not this file.

Property of [`Part`](Part.md) · inherited by [`Query`](Query.md) · stable · since 2.0.0 · called as `session.node(nodeId).restPose`

```ts
readonly restPose: Pose;
```

Authored: the pose as loaded, before rules and clips. On a model root ([`node(id)`](Writer.node.md)) it is the
node's committed scene-model placement (identity-filled, spec section 8.1; relative to its
parent model under `space: 'parent'`), and on a collection item its `at` as last reconciled.
While [`exists`](Part.exists.md) is false, a [`node(id)`](Writer.node.md) handle reads the committed placement when the committed
scene model holds the node, its asset loading, failed or absent included, else the identity
pose; a placement that only a pending scene write carries is read from [`getSceneModel()`](Writer.getSceneModel.md), the
intent read, and `bounds()` reads null.
A model root's can carry a stored zero scale ([`IModelNode.scale`](IModelNode.scale.md)), which no pose write takes.

## Generic-API test (spec 3.1)

| Rule | Result |
| --- | --- |
| 1. Neutral name | pass: `restPose` names no product |
| 2. A precedent | pass: [Babylon.js Skeleton.returnToRest](https://github.com/BabylonJS/Babylon.js/blob/master/packages/dev/core/src/Bones/skeleton.ts) (row `G11`); [Unity Renderer.bounds](https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Renderer-bounds.html) (row `G11`) |
| 3. Two apps, or labs | pass: 28 apps (ledger: app-0c773a4ee3, app-b362a81c85, app-f9a32142f1; fleet cross-check: app-04c2774145, app-0c773a4ee3, app-37356bf09f, app-378d190f1b, app-4762caacdc, app-4f16d2f6da, app-4fd23bc869, app-510d750508 and 20 more) |
| 4. The cheaper fix first | decided per need in Appendix B: rows `G11`, `K57` at tier stable (a member only where no rule, data, asset or app code serves the need) |
