# `PartActions.bounds`

> Contract 2.0.0 · package sha256 `a857eca95b35921109faf997094bb4192f12527d9d0fcd4be7e97f06425bad6e` · generated from `configurator-runtime.d.ts` by `services/onsite-scripter/scripts/build-contract-docs.mjs`; edit the source, not this file.

Method of [`PartActions`](PartActions.md) · inherited by [`Query`](Query.md), [`Parts`](Parts.md), [`Part`](Part.md) · stable · since 2.0.0 · called as `session.node(nodeId).bounds`

```ts
bounds(options?: {
  includeHidden?: boolean;
}): Bounds | null;
```

Read class: derived. World bounds computed on read, never last-rendered. Animated parts count
at their observed pose; while a write that moves them prepares, they count at its intent (the
intent overlay, spec section 6.7). Null when nothing matches. `includeHidden: true` includes
hidden descendants (connector planes too), as today's `Box3.expandByObject` metrics did, and a
matched part that is itself hidden (a hidden model's root): to skip a hidden model, check its
`visible`. The same option as [`PickOptions.includeHidden`](PickOptions.includeHidden.md) and [`ExportOptions.includeHidden`](ExportOptions.includeHidden.md).

**Default:** options.includeHidden false

## Options

Through [`Session`](Session.md):

| Option | Type | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `includeHidden` | `boolean` | — |  |

Through [`Tx`](Tx.md):

| Option | Type | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `includeHidden` | `boolean` | — |  |

## Generic-API test (spec 3.1)

| Rule | Result |
| --- | --- |
| 1. Neutral name | pass: `bounds` names no product |
| 2. A precedent | pass: [Babylon.js Skeleton.returnToRest](https://github.com/BabylonJS/Babylon.js/blob/master/packages/dev/core/src/Bones/skeleton.ts) (row `G11`); [Unity Renderer.bounds](https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Renderer-bounds.html) (row `G11`) |
| 3. Two apps, or labs | pass: 15 apps (ledger: app-0c773a4ee3, app-b362a81c85, app-f9a32142f1; fleet cross-check: app-04c2774145, app-0c773a4ee3, app-378d190f1b, app-4762caacdc, app-4f16d2f6da, app-510d750508, app-822bb9d6aa, app-b362a81c85 and 7 more) |
| 4. The cheaper fix first | decided per need in Appendix B: rows `G11`, `K57` at tier stable (a member only where no rule, data, asset or app code serves the need) |
