# `Pose.scale`

Property of [`Pose`](Pose.md) · stable · since 2.0.0

```ts
readonly scale: ReadonlyPoint3;
```

1 on each axis is the authored size. When the matrix mirrors (a negative determinant), `scale.x`
carries the −1 and [`quaternion`](Pose.quaternion.md) and [`rotationDeg`](Pose.rotationDeg.md) are the proper rotation of the rest, so the
quaternion turns +Y and +Z into the matrix's own Y and Z directions, wherever the mirror was
written. A world matrix with shear (a part turned inside a non-uniformly scaled parent, such
as a lid bone in a stretched frame) has no exact pose: [`position`](Pose.position.md) stays exact, and
[`quaternion`](Pose.quaternion.md) and `scale` are the rotation and stretch of its polar decomposition, so that
promise holds only without shear. For exact directions there, compose the local poses from
the model root down with `/math` `mat4` (spec section 5.10).

## Generic-API test (spec 3.1)

| Rule | Result |
| --- | --- |
| 1. Neutral name | pass: `scale` names no product |
| 2. A precedent | not recorded: no ledger row (coverage.json) names this member or its owner |
| 3. Two apps, or labs | pass: 7 apps (fleet cross-check: app-04c2774145, app-37356bf09f, app-4762caacdc, app-c1384707fc, app-ceb4eccc72, app-f3598fad77, app-f9a32142f1) |
| 4. The cheaper fix first | not recorded per member (Appendix B decides it per need) |
