# `TextureSpec.image`

> Contract 2.0.0 · package sha256 `a857eca95b35921109faf997094bb4192f12527d9d0fcd4be7e97f06425bad6e` · generated from `configurator-runtime.d.ts` by `services/onsite-scripter/scripts/build-contract-docs.mjs`; edit the source, not this file.

Property of [`TextureSpec`](TextureSpec.md) · inherited by [`TextureSlot`](TextureSlot.md), [`TextureInput`](TextureInput.md) · stable · since 2.0.0

```ts
image?: HTMLCanvasElement | OffscreenCanvas | ImageBitmap | ImageRef;
```

A canvas or bitmap, copied at the call. Write again to re-upload after redrawing. Row 0 of the
image is v = 0 (the glTF convention: no vertical flip). Reads return an [`ImageRef`](ImageRef.md). That copy
is the one CPU copy the runtime keeps: it draws the texture again from it after a lost context
and frees it once its [`ImageRef`](ImageRef.md) is no longer live (an undo or redo step keeps it). So a bitmap
you keep after the call is a second copy.

**Default:** undefined (keep the slot's image)

## Generic-API test (spec 3.1)

| Rule | Result |
| --- | --- |
| 1. Neutral name | pass: `image` names no product |
| 2. A precedent | pass: [createImageBitmap()](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Window/createImageBitmap) (row `G23`); [Babylon.js DynamicTexture](https://github.com/BabylonJS/Babylon.js/blob/master/packages/dev/core/src/Materials/Textures/dynamicTexture.ts) (row `G23`); [glTF 2.0 texCoord sets](https://registry.khronos.org/glTF/specs/2.0/glTF-2.0.html#texture-data) (row `K53`) |
| 3. Two apps, or labs | pass: 4 apps (ledger: app-bcb7ef21da; fleet cross-check: app-59c5b5751e, app-e61a0b42ad, app-f3598fad77) |
| 4. The cheaper fix first | decided per need in Appendix B: rows `G23`, `K53` at tier stable (a member only where no rule, data, asset or app code serves the need) |
